AmeriCorps and CEDAM
AmeriCorps engages more than 75,000 Americans in intensive service each year at nonprofits, schools, public agencies and community and faith-based groups across the country.
AmeriCorps programs do more than move communities forward; they serve their members by creating jobs and providing pathways to opportunity for people entering the nonprofit field. AmeriCorps places thousands of Americans into intensive service positions where they learn valuable work skills, earn money for education, and develop an appreciation for citizenship.
CEDAM was awarded a three-year AmeriCorps State grant to host the Michigan Financial Opportunity Corps (MFOC). The MFOC was created to combat the unfortunate truth that 40% of Michigan households struggle to afford the basic necessities of housing, childcare, food, health care and transportation. The MFOC works partnership with 15 organizations across Michigan to place 24 AmeriCorps members in communities where they will facilitate financial education classes, host Show Me The Money Day events, increase the capacity of VITA free tax programs and help individuals facing foreclosure.

Rural Opportunity VISTA Program
We’re also happy to announce that we have received funding from the Corporation for National and Community Service to host a ten-member AmeriCorps VISTA program. In partnership with Michigan Main Street (MMS) and the Council of Michigan Foundations, the Rural Opportunity VISTA program’s members provide capacity building to organizations by expanding on existing programming or creating a new program from the ground up!
